Frozen food market expands rapidly

Retail sales of frozen foods in Korea recorded 1.58 trillion won ($1.34 billion) in 2014, a 10.9 percent increase from 2012, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corp.

The ministry said the increase was due to a rise in the number of people living alone.

Dumplings took up the greatest portion of sales with 55.7 percent, followed by fried foods (13.1 percent), ribs and marinated beef (8.5 percent) and meatballs (8.2 percent).
