Drone associations from Korea, China and Japan signed an agreement for the collaborative development of the drone industry during the 2016 Shenzhen International UAV Expo at the Shenzhen Convention Center in China on June 18.
One hundred participants representing the industry and drone associations, including the Korea Drone Industry Promotion Association, China Drone Industry Alliance and the Japan UAS (unmanned air system) Industrial Development Association, agreed to standardize drone parts and technologies to develop the drone industry.
Furthermore, the three countries decided to alternatively host an annual international drone conference to exchange information. Korea will hold the first conference in Seoul this September with an expected 800 specialists in attendance.
Founded in September last year, the Korea Drone Industry Promotion Association was established to support and expand small and medium-sized enterprises in the domestic drone industry and selected chairman Lee Hyo-koo of LIG Nex1, a Korean defense weapons systems manufacturer, as the first chairman of KODIPA.
