Mondays show highest sales in cosmetics

According to records for three months at online retailer Auction, sales of cosmetics and clothes were the highest on Mondays (19.2 percent).

Sales on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays were 15.1, 15 and 14.6 percent, respectively.

“Customers tend to buy things as a way of beating the back-to-work blues,” a company spokesman said. “We are planning to launch various promotions and events that reflect the current retail trend.”

Sales on Fridays and weekends were lower than earlier in the week, at 13.5, 12.6 and 10.1 percent, respectively. Sales between 11 a.m. (1.33 percent) and 2 p.m. (1.32 percent) made up the largest portion of the total.

Spring fabrics had become popular, the company said.

Sales of lace and shirred blouses were up 28 percent last month from a year earlier. Sales of chiffon, lace dresses and skirts were up 34 and 92 percent respectively.

Sales of sun protection creams and facial scrubs were up 81 and 22 percent respectively.
